Construction Site Hoardings
Construction site hoardings are a legal requirement for any site that presents a risk to the public. Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and CDM Regulations 2015, contractors have a duty to secure the site perimeter and protect workers, visitors and passers-by.
construction site hoarding panels
Our panels are printed direct to 4mm Dibond aluminium composite as standard, with anti-graffiti laminate applied as a matter of course. Dibond is rigid, weatherproof and will hold up for the duration of most construction programmes without panel replacement. Where a site requires high-security or extended exposure, we advise on substrate and fixing accordingly. Standard panel height is 2.4m. Where planning conditions or site security requirements call for 3m or above, we produce to specification.

Benefits of printed hoarding graphics

CDM Compliance on Every Panel
Under CDM Regulations 2015, principal contractors are required to manage risks to the public throughout the build programme. Hoarding panels provide the perimeter barrier required for site security and the surface for the mandatory safety notices, site rules and hazard warnings that CDM demands. We print compliance graphics alongside project branding in a single panel run, so your hoarding meets regulatory requirements from day one.

Material Specified for the Duration
Not every site requires the same substrate. For long-duration or urban sites with high public footfall, we specify 4mm Dibond with anti-graffiti laminate as standard. For shorter installations or lower-risk environments. We advise on substrate at the survey stage based on the site, the programme length and the exposure conditions -- not on a one-size approach.

Site Survey Before Anything Goes to Print
Construction sites present access constraints, uneven ground conditions, fixing challenges and programme pressures that affect how hoarding is designed and installed. We carry out a site survey before artwork is finalised or panels go to production. This confirms the panel run, fixing method, access conditions and any site-specific requirements. It prevents waste, avoids delays and ensures the installation goes in on programme.

Security and Access Control Throughout the Build
Printed hoarding panels create a secure perimeter that deters unauthorised access and reduces the risk of theft, vandalism and public safety incidents throughout the construction programme. Panel heights of 2.4m are standard. Where the site environment or planning conditions require 3m or above, we produce to specification. Access gates, pedestrian routes and viewing windows can all be incorporated into the panel design and installation.
If you are unsure which material or print method is most suitable for your project, contact our team at [email protected] with your quantities, intended use and any site-specific requirements. We will review the details and advise on the most appropriate approach.
Construction Site Hoarding Installation
Wallace Print has an in-house installation team that handles construction site hoarding across Kent, London and the wider South East. We have installed hoarding on development sites, retail refurbishments, public sector projects and infrastructure works. Site access, ground conditions, fixing method and programme timeline are all confirmed at the survey stage before installation is scheduled. Our installation service covers panel delivery, fixing and sign-off. Where access requires working at height, our team holds the relevant working at height qualifications. We coordinate with the principal contractor and work around the site programme to avoid delays.
SPEAK WITH USDual-Function Efficiency
Construction site hoarding panels secure the site perimeter and carry the safety notices, site rules and project information required under CDM. One installation covers both requirements.
To Your Specification
Standard panels are 2440mm x 1220mm. We produce to non-standard dimensions where the site perimeter requires it, around access gates, corners, returns and pedestrian routes. Panel height from 2.4m upwards, confirmed at site survey.
Panel Durability
We print to 4mm Dibond with anti-graffiti laminate as standard. Panels hold up under wind load, UV exposure and impact for the duration of most construction programmes. Where a different substrate suits the programme or budget, we advise at survey stage.
A Board for Communication
Hoarding panels carry safety notices, operating hours, noise restrictions, access points, emergency contacts and project information alongside any branding. We print all elements in a single production run

REQUST A QUOTEFrequently asked questions
What are construction site hoardings and why are they used?
Construction site hoardings are temporary panels erected around the perimeter of a building or development site. They are a legal requirement in the UK under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, providing a barrier between the public and site hazards. They also carry mandatory safety notices and site information required under CDM Regulations 2015.
What materials are used for construction site hoardings?
The most common substrate for printed construction site hoardings is 4mm Dibond aluminium composite. Dibond is rigid, weatherproof and durable enough for long-duration outdoor installation. Correx and foamex are used for shorter-term projects or lower-exposure environments. We advise on substrate at survey stage based on the programme duration and site conditions.
Can construction site hoardings be printed with graphics?
Yes. Graphics, branding, project information, safety notices and planning information are all printed directly onto the panels. We print in full colour on our in-house UV flatbed presses in Rochester.
How long do construction site hoardings last?
Dibond panels with anti-graffiti laminate will hold up for the duration of most construction programmes, typically one to three years in outdoor conditions. Performance depends on the site environment, exposure and whether panels are subject to impact or vandalism.
Are construction site hoardings required by law?
Yes, in most cases. The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 requires employers to take reasonable steps to protect the public from construction site hazards. In practice this means securing the site perimeter with hoarding before work begins. CDM Regulations 2015 and local planning conditions may impose additional requirements.
How are construction site hoardings installed?
Our installation team delivers panels to site and fixes them to the agreed substrate — timber framing, existing fence posts, kentledge blocks or direct to masonry, depending on the site conditions confirmed at survey. Access gates, pedestrian routes and viewing windows can all be incorporated.
Can construction site hoardings be installed on uneven ground?
Yes. Our team has installed hoarding on sloped, uneven and constrained sites. Ground conditions and any level changes are noted at site survey and the fixing design accounts for them before installation begins.
What is the difference between construction hoarding and site fencing?
Site fencing, such as heras fencing, provides a basic perimeter barrier but offers no privacy, limited security and no surface for graphics or safety signage. Construction hoarding is a solid panel system that blocks the view into the site, provides a higher level of security and carries the printed graphics and safety notices required under CDM.
Do you provide construction hoarding printing as well as panels?
Yes. We print directly onto Dibond panels in-house. We do not supply blank panels for self-installation, we produce complete printed hoarding panels ready for installation by our own team.
How do I get a quote for construction site hoardings?
Contact us at [email protected] with your site address, approximate perimeter length, programme start date and any specific requirements. We will arrange a site survey and provide a no-obligation quote based on the survey findings.
