Wallace Print experienced a landmark year in 2011, marked by rapid expansion, new client partnerships, and a significant increase in large-format production volume across multiple sectors. The company’s continued commitment to dependable service, technical capability and high-quality output positioned it strongly during this period of industry change, with new project opportunities emerging across retail, outdoor media and promotional print.
As customer expectations grew and the demand for reliable print partners increased, Wallace Print strengthened its operational capacity and refined its production workflow to accommodate a broadening scope of work. These improvements enabled the business to continue exceeding client expectations while laying essential groundwork for further strategic development in the years that followed.
Gary Wallace: “I don’t want to give too much away; I want other printers to find out how we did it the hard way, the way we did it. But we have concentrated on acquiring customers in different sectors and made sure we offered them good service. – I have found a few of them dealt with bigger companies before us and they were let down. I think if we get a good mix of clients at the right amount we can grow, £50,000 is a sensible amount from one customer, I wouldn’t want somebody to give me £1m worth of work – that is very dangerous.”

Strengthening Production Capacity to Meet Growing Demand
Throughout 2011, Wallace Print saw steady and sustained increases in enquiry volume across campaign rollouts, in-store marketing, outdoor displays and large-format promotional work. To support this, the company enhanced production efficiency, expanded shift patterns where needed, and optimised internal processes to maintain the fast turnaround times that customers rely on.
This period of growth also prompted early discussions around future investments, particularly in high-performance equipment and workflow automation. While these developments would come to fruition in later years, the foundations for the company’s future technological upgrades were formed in this key period. This growth also aligned closely with the services now offered under Large Format Printing, which continues to be a central strength of the business.
As demand increased, Wallace Print continued to evaluate opportunities to expand its in-house capabilities—an approach later reflected in connected archive announcements such as Wallace Print Brings Services In-House (2011) and Wallace Print Expands 2011.
Supporting a Growing Range of Industries
The company’s evolution in 2011 enabled greater capacity to support retailers, agencies, commercial brands and print buyers who required large-scale production with consistent quality. With an increased workload across retail graphics, national promotional campaigns, window displays and internal branding projects, Wallace Print broadened its role as a dependable supplier for multichannel print delivery.
As campaign complexity increased, clients relied on Wallace Print not only for high-volume production, but also for pre-press support, colour consistency, and specialist finishing across materials. This laid the groundwork for service areas that now form part of Wallace Print’s broader offering, including direct-to-media printing and installation services.
By continually enhancing production standards, the company reinforced its reputation as a trusted partner capable of delivering projects at scale—something that would become increasingly important in later years as the industry shifted toward faster turnaround expectations and more diverse material requirements.
Historic Significance and Long-Term Direction
The strong performance in 2011 played a significant role in shaping Wallace Print’s strategic path, influencing future investment decisions and operational priorities. The company’s success in managing higher production volumes and evolving client needs helped refine internal processes that would later support the introduction of new equipment and improved technology across the business.
This early growth period also complementarily links to future archive developments, such as the 2012 investment in flatbed printing and the years of sustained performance leading into other key milestones documented throughout the press archive.
